PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS AN OLD POST AND WE ARE NO LONGER DOING ONLINE SMALL GROUPS. THANK YOU.
Next month will mark the one-year anniversary of Christian Mom Thoughts! When I started my blog, I never would have guessed that there would be more than 3,800 readers between Facebook, email and RSS a year later. It has been an incredible blessing to me to write Christian Mom Thoughts and I pray that you have been blessed by these posts in some small way as well.
As I’ve considered my vision for the blog in the next year, the number one thing on my heart is finding a way to connect the readers of this blog – all of the wonderful parents out there who have connected to Christian Mom Thoughts because you share the desire to build a more Christ-centered home. I would love to get to know more of you, and for you to know each other!
It’s not easy to “connect” to others through a blog. Sure, you can leave a comment (and I love when you do!), but it’s not really a way to connect to each other. Sure, you can say something on Facebook (and, again, I love when you do!), but Facebook isn’t the best place either to share your private struggles, develop new friendships and seek accountability in your Christian parenting efforts.
That’s why I’m starting a place on my site for online “small groups.” If you aren’t familiar with the concept of small groups from your own church, the idea is that you express your interest, get assigned to a group, and develop a meaningful relationship with fellow Christians who support each other in their walk with the Lord.
The online small groups I’m developing will:
1) Be 8-12 moms in size.
2) Connect moms with kids of a similar age range.
3) Have private access to their forum. You will be given a link that is not publically available so you can share with your group in confidence.
Why try this? Well…there could be a lot of reasons!
- Do you wish you had more Christian friends who shared your desire for building a Christ-centered home?
- Do you wish you could have an in-person small group but don’t have the time or ability to meet with a group offline?
- Do you want a more Christ-centered home but find it more difficult in practice than theory?
- Do you feel like you have the best intentions but never get around to implementing your goals because of a lack of accountability?
- Do you struggle with faith yourself so you feel you don’t know how to guide your kids?
- Are you challenged by not being on the same page as your spouse?
You’re not alone! Join others who feel the same. Try a small group. Here’s how.
Email me (Natasha@christianmomthoughts.com):
- Your name and email address
- Your kids’ ages
- Why you want to be in an online small group (note any special challenges you have, like the ones I listed above)
- If you have friends who would like to be in an online small group with you, feel free to have them email me as well (and mention your name so I’m sure to put you in the same group)!
I would also consider adding open forums where you aren’t part of a small group per se – just a more general private social network for Christian moms to post as desired. I know there are a couple out there already, but they are different than what I’m envisioning so I would consider starting one. If you are interested in that but not the small groups, please email me as well!
Once I see the interest level, I’ll determine how to proceed.
I look forward to hearing from you!
